Reporting to the Head of Studio Operations, the Lead Multi-Skilled Operator is responsible for the overall operations and development of the team; ensuring all requirements are met and issues are resolved in an efficient manner. The role is also responsible for ensuring strict adherence to all health and safety commitments relating to the area. A deep operational knowledge of audio, vision and lighting are a vital part of the role as well as fundamental technical knowledge to contribute to projects and effectively manage this remit. This role may require working some weekends and night shifts in line with operational requirements.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all productions are technically well-supported in studio areas and identify improvements/gaps in workflows.
- Ensure team undertakes regular checks of all broadcast equipment and proactively identify, resolve or escalate issues that may affect operations.
- Lead and guide the team during ‘business as usual’ operations as well as projects and additional programming requirements.
- Work closely with Head of Studio Operations and Senior Multi-Skilled Operators on anything that impacts the studio operations, including projects, maintenance, programming changes, staffing and technical issues.
- Ensure the team is well trained and documentation is in place for all members to succeed.
- Create and implement development plans for team members and review performance in line with company requirements.
- Monitor staffing levels and work with roster management team to identify and resolve any issues.
- Ensure high quality output is maintained by members of the team and deal with any individual improvements that may be required.
- Assist with planning and overseeing maintenance projects by engineering or subcontractors as required, ensuring safety is always maintained.
- Ensure communication with other departments is timely, relevant and concise and the team is updated with all relevant information to the department.
- Occasional cover for Multiskilled Operator roles may be required.
- Follow up on any faults in equipment with relevant departments and feedback to team and stakeholders as necessary.
