Voices Radio is a community-focused radio station for the KX area and beyond, dedicated to inclusivity and diversity in its programming and audience. Broadcasting from a studio in the heart of London’s King’s Cross creative quarter, Coal Drops Yard, the station combines engaging discussions with a wide range of music genres. Voices Bar
We operate two pop up bars outside the radio as part of Lower Stable Street Market, all revenue generated from bar sales goes into funding the radio. We serve a curated menu of drinks including local beers, mixed drinks, and low- or no-alcohol options.
Role Description
The Weekend Bar Manager is a part-time, on-site role based in London, working every Saturday and Sunday on our bar. You will be responsible for the smooth operation of the Voices bar during weekend service. This role oversees all aspects of bar service, including opening and closing procedures, stock management, till operations, and ensuring the bar is clean, safe, and compliant with licensing and health and safety standards.
The Weekend Bar Manager leads, trains, and motivates bar staff, coordinates rotas, manages stock orders and supports team members during busy periods to maintain efficient and friendly service. The Bar Manager also interfaces with the Lower Stable Street Market staff, to ensure we follow their guidelines and take on feedback in an effective and timely manner, and report any issues or incidents back to Voices management.
The role also involves engaging with visitors, answering questions about the drinks menu, supporting the station’s community‑focused ethos, and creating a welcoming atmosphere that complements the live radio environment. The Weekend Bar Manager will also support sales initiatives, track bar performance, and work closely with the wider Voices Radio team to promote the bar through our marketing channels.
Experience
- Must be a Personal Licence Holder (PLH)
- Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to create a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere for a diverse range of guests.
- Required to have previous experience as a bar supervisor, bar manager, or similar role on bars, ideally pop up / mobile bars.
- Experience in food & beverage operations, including bar service, stock control, hygiene standards, and compliance with licensing regulations.
- Ability to train, support, and supervise bar staff, including setting clear expectations and providing ongoing feedback on performance.
- Strong organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to handle peak periods and multitask effectively.
- Basic numeracy and confidence with POS systems, cash handling, and end‑of‑day reconciliation.
- Availability to work weekends and evenings in line with bar and station operating hours.
- An interest in music, radio, or community events is a plus.
