Since 1870, Cambridge Center for Adult Education (CCAE) has been committed to offering a diverse range of high‑quality, low‑cost learning opportunities for adults in greater Boston. CCAE operates two historic properties in Harvard Square and hosts nearly 2,000 classes each year across 4 terms, taught by over 200 professionals.
The Cambridge Center for Adult Education, located in Harvard Square, is seeking part‑time instructors to teach a variety of science and nature classes for adults, beginning in the summer 2026 term. We are expanding our curriculum and welcome instructors to design new courses that align with their expertise. Interdisciplinary classes are highly encouraged. Available formats include multi‑week courses and one‑time workshops. If you wish to propose a unique class, please include a brief description in your letter of interest.
Classes We’re Seeking:
- Bird Watching
- Nature Exploration / Foraging
- Zoology / Wildlife
- Oceanic & Coral Reef
- Native Plant Identification
- And more – share your ideas with us!
The hourly rate starts at $25 per hour, commensurate with experience, and instructors may receive one free class per term (up to $300).
Qualifications:
- Demonstrable experience and success in the science & nature sector.
- Experience as an educator/instructor.
- Ability to engage a diverse demographic of adult learners.
- Relevant degree, training, or experience in a science or nature‑related educational field is preferred.
