Join our IT teams, which is at the core of our digital future, analysing and operating all our internal and customer-facing systems, with the aim of delivering the best customer experience.

What You’ll Do

  • In this role, within VodafoneThree's Performance and Chaos Engineering (PaCE) team, you will play a key role in enabling engineering teams to deliver scalable, resilient, and high-performing digital services.
  • Working closely with product, platform, development, and Site Reliability Engineering teams, you will champion a shift-left approach to performance and resilience engineering.
  • Your expertise in software engineering, performance testing, observability, and automation will help drive the adoption of engineering best practices across the organisation.

  • Through collaboration, coaching, and continuous improvement, you will help cultivate a culture where performance, resilience, and operational excellence are shared responsibilities.

Main responsibilities:

  • You will drive shift-left performance and resilience engineering by embedding non-functional testing, reliability, and scalability validation throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • You will integrate automated performance and resilience validation into CI/CD pipelines, ensuring risks are identified and addressed before production deployment.
  • Be part of enabling engineering teams through self-service capabilities, providing tooling, frameworks, standards, and guidance for performance, resilience, and chaos testing.
  • Support in defining and championing engineering best practices, including SLOs, observability, capacity planning, and operational readiness to improve service reliability and customer experience.
  • You will collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Platform, Architecture, and SRE teams to design resilient, scalable solutions and proactively identify performance and reliability risks.
  • Drive continuous improvement through data-driven insights, experimentation, and chaos engineering.

Who You Are

  • You will use your experience of observability tools and service level objectives to monitor cloud infrastructure performance, capacity, and availability.
  • You will have a proactive attitude to problem-solving: looking to find areas of improvement and bottlenecks.
  • You will have working knowledge of CI/CD implementation and agile DevOps methods.
  • You have an understanding of non-functional testing practices.

How to prepare for a job interview at VodafoneThree

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If VodafoneThree uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
