Location: Farnborough (onsite)
Salary: Excellent basic salary plus bonus and Vodafone benefits
Working Hours: Full time 39.5 hours per week – Shift working role (2 day & 2 night shifts, followed by 4 days off). Rotational shifts between 7 AM to 7 PM and 7 PM to 7 AM (Sunday to Sunday Rotation).
Security Clearance: This position requires the holder to have or be willing and able to obtain a UK Developed Vetting (DV) clearance.
What You’ll Do:
- Provide 2nd Line operational support to Government customers as part of the 24x7 Shift team within the VBSE Assure NOC.
- Provide expert technical services focusing on Transmission and IP elements within the VBSE network.
- Undertake Assure team maintenance and fault work in accordance with customer service level agreements.
- Undertake remote provisioning and commissioning work on Tx, IP and equipment deployed on customer and network sites to current specifications.
- Deal effectively and efficiently with queries from customers.
- Perform regular audits on the networks and systems.
- Provide technical support to others in the department and to customers.
- Make recommendations to VBSE management on complex technical matters.
Who You Are:
- Maintain customer confidentiality and be able to hold security clearance.
- Have in‑depth knowledge of Transmission equipment and networks (DWDM, SDH, PDH) in a telecoms provider environment.
- Be aware of configuration of Ciena and Alcatel equipment.
- Have in‑depth knowledge of IP networking, switching and routing in a telecoms provider environment.
- Be aware of configuration of Cisco and Alcatel IP/Ethernet equipment.
- Take a clear and analytical approach to problem management.
- Understand ITIL working practices.
