Role Description

The Food and Beverage Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based at voco Zeal Exeter Science Park in Exeter. The role involves providing welcoming, efficient food and beverage service in the restaurant, bar, and meeting spaces, ensuring guests have a high-quality experience from arrival to departure. Day-to-day tasks include taking orders, serving food and drinks, preparing basic items and garnishes, setting up and clearing tables and event spaces, and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in all service areas. The Food and Beverage Assistant supports sustainable practices, follows hotel procedures and safety guidelines, handles payments and billing accurately, and works closely with the wider team to support events and peak service periods. Flexibility to work shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, is required to meet business needs.

Qualifications

• Strong Food Service and Food & Beverage skills, with experience in restaurant, bar, or hotel service environments.
• Basic Food Preparation skills and an understanding of food hygiene and safety standards.
• Excellent Customer Service and Communication skills, with a friendly, professional, and inclusive approach to guests and colleagues.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment, with good time management and attention to detail.
• Previous experience in hospitality or hotels is beneficial; barista or bar experience is an advantage.
• Willingness to learn about and support sustainable and environmentally conscious practices within the hotel.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays; reliable and punctual attendance.
• Basic numeracy and literacy skills; food safety certification or equivalent training is an asset.
