voco Grand Central Hotel and Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel are looking for a Cluster Maintenance Manager to support our iconic Glasgow hotels! At voco Grand Central Glasgow and Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel, we know that exceptional guest experiences rely on exceptional facilities. We are looking for an experienced, organised and proactive Cluster Maintenance Manager to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis, working 40 hours per week, five days out of seven, including weekends and bank holidays in line with the operational needs of the business. Reporting to the Director of Facilities, this hands-on leadership role will oversee the engineering and maintenance operations across both hotels. You will lead and develop our engineering teams, creating a culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement, whilst ensuring our hotels remain fully compliant, operationally efficient and maintained to the highest standards.
Working closely with the wider hotel leadership team, you will take ownership of statutory compliance, planned preventative maintenance programmes, contractor management, capital projects and engineering best practice, ensuring both hotels continue to deliver exceptional experience for our guests and colleagues.
What you'll be doing
- Lead the delivery of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programmes across both hotels, ensuring all engineering systems and equipment are maintained to the highest standard.
- Ensure statutory compliance across all engineering and building services, maintaining accurate, audit-ready records and ensuring all legal obligations are met.
- Conduct regular technical, health and safety and security inspections, identifying risks and implementing effective corrective actions.
- Lead and support the engineering teams, creating a positive culture focused on safety, accountability, service excellence and continuous improvement.
- Manage external contractors, consultants and specialist service providers, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and in line with agreed standards.
- Support the delivery of refurbishment projects, capital investment programmes and wider hotel improvement initiatives.
- Drive energy, water and waste reduction strategies through effective use of the Building Management System (BMS), supporting both hotels in achieving their sustainability objectives.
- Ensure compliance with Approved Codes of Practice (ACOPs), company policies, brand standards and safe systems of work.
- Provide technical advice and engineering expertise to hotel leadership teams, project managers and external stakeholders to support operational decision making and future developments.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve building performance, operational efficiency and the guest experience.
What we're looking for
- Recognised qualification or certification in Engineering, Building Services or a related technical discipline.
- A minimum of five years' experience in an Engineering or Facilities leadership role within a luxury hotel, hospitality or similarly complex customer-focused environment.
- Proven experience managing planned preventative maintenance programmes, statutory compliance and building services.
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, risk management and Approved Codes of Practice (ACOPs).
- Experience managing contractors, specialist service providers and multiple stakeholder relationships.
- Demonstrable experience leading and developing engineering or maintenance teams.
- Strong project management experience, delivering projects safely, on time and within budget.
- Experience of operating and managing Building Management Systems (BMS).
- Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritise multiple operational demands.
Desirable
- Previous experience within a hotel or hospitality environment.
- Level 3 Health & Safety qualification.
- NEBOSH or IOSH qualification.
- Experience supporting multi-site or cluster engineering operations.
- Experience working with hotel owners, asset managers or branded hotel environments.
