Creative SEND Teaching Assistant in Southwark, South-East London.

Pay: £95 - £110 per day

About the Role

Vocational Recruitment is working in partnership with various primary and SEND schools across South-East London to appoint a Creative SEND Teaching Assistant for full-time roles starting immediately. This is a rewarding long-term opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting children with additional needs through creativity, engagement, and positive relationship-building. Whether your background is in the arts, drama, music, dance, youth work, psychology, sports coaching, or education, we would love to hear from you. Experience working with children or young people with SEND is preferred but not essential. A genuine passion for helping children thrive and a creative approach to learning are key.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with SEND on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Use creative approaches to engage pupils in learning and social development
  • Assist teachers in delivering differentiated and personalised learning activities
  • Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and independence skills
  • Encourage participation, confidence, and positive interactions throughout the school day
  • Adapt resources and activities to meet individual learning needs
  • Support behaviour positively through consistency, patience, and understanding
  • Monitor pupil progress and contribute to individual support plans where required
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, therapists, and external professionals
  • Ensure the safety, wellbeing, and inclusion of all pupils at all times

Requirements

  • Experience working with children, young people, or individuals with additional needs (desirable)
  • A creative background in arts, drama, music, dance, sports coaching, youth work, or similar fields (desirable)
  • Knowledge and understanding of SEND, including autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, and SEMH (desirable)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, adaptable, and positive approach to supporting children
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
  • A genuine passion for helping children achieve their potential
