Key Responsibilities for the Creative SEND Teaching Assistant Role:
- Support pupils with SEND on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
- Use creative approaches to engage pupils in learning and social development
- Assist teachers in delivering differentiated and personalised learning activities
- Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and independence skills
- Encourage participation, confidence, and positive interactions throughout the school day
- Adapt resources and activities to meet individual learning needs
- Support behaviour positively through consistency, patience, and understanding
- Monitor pupil progress and contribute to individual support plans where required
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, therapists, and external professionals
- Ensure the safety, wellbeing, and inclusion of all pupils at all times
Requirements for the Creative SEND Teaching Assistant Role:
- Experience working with children, young people, or individuals with additional needs (desirable)
- A creative background in arts, drama, music, dance, sports coaching, youth work, or similar fields (desirable)
- Knowledge and understanding of SEND, including autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, and SEMH (desirable)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, adaptable, and positive approach to supporting children
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work as part of a team
