VNI Legal are delight to be working with a national, market leading Employment team who are seeking an employment lawyer with a focus on advocacy to cover Employment Tribunal hearings, from case management preliminary hearings to multi-day full-merits hearings. The firm are looking for solicitors who have at least 4 years experience and you will be based in their state of the art Glasgow office.
The firm are known to advise clients across the UK including some of the UK\’s largest and best known employers. They believe that the quality of their clients and strength of their relationships with them speaks volumes about the quality of the service they are able to provide. The teams across the UK are highly ranked in the Legal Directories and have ambitions to continue to grow further.
This position will be based in Glasgow but will be working as part of their national Employment team and subject to the hybrid working policy.
As a solicitor and Employment Advocate this is a great opportunity to play an integral role in growing the business, working alongside Partners to drive the practice forward, with scope for great career development. This is the chance to manage a mixed caseload of employment work and will be responsible for:
Primarily covering employment tribunal hearings, including (but not limited to):
- Multi-day discrimination, whistleblowing and detriment cases;
- Unfair dismissal and wages cases;
- Case management preliminary hearings.
- Employment law advice to a wide range of clients, including unfair dismissal, disciplinary, grievances, whistleblowing, discrimination, detriment claims and equal pay;
- Assist with the supervision and management members of the team with their caseloads as appropriate;
- Draft and prepare documents, tribunal responses, bundles, witness statements and reports;
- Draft articles and legal updates;
- Assist with business development initiatives including training and networking;
- Work in accordance with client and internal SLAs;
- Work in accordance with Weightmans’ values and procedures;
- Achieve set financial and chargeable targets.
It is essential you will have gained previous experience and have a genuine and demonstrable interest in the above area of work.
It is also essential you have:
- 4 + year PQE
- Experience of employment tribunal advocacy
- Excellent team work skills;
- Strong technical knowledge;
- Ability to multi-task, work to strict deadlines and targets;
- Excellent communication, time management and organisational skills;
- Flexible approach;
- Ideally previous experience of mentoring / supervising junior fee-earners.
