Contract Terms: This role is offered on a 6-month fixed-term basis. There may be the opportunity for the role to become permanent following the initial contract period, subject to performance and business needs.

Role Overview: The Part-Time Operations Assistant supports the day-to-day running of VNE Aviation’s operations, ensuring that activities across the site run smoothly, efficiently, and professionally. This is a hands-on role combining operational coordination, customer interaction, and practical support within an active aviation environment. This role would suit someone on their own aviation journey, such as a student pilot or individual looking to build experience within a real-world flight training environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Coordination: Supporting the daily planning and coordination of flight and simulator activity, assisting with scheduling and efficient use of aircraft and simulator resources, monitoring daily operations and responding to changes or disruptions, helping prioritise tasks to maintain smooth operational flow.
  • Operations & Administration: Managing bookings, schedules and general operational records, handling customer enquiries via phone, email and in person, supporting front-of-house operations and reception activities, assisting with general administrative and operational tasks.
  • Aircraft & Ground Operations Support: Assisting with the movement and positioning of aircraft under instruction, supporting aircraft refuelling where trained and authorised, assisting with basic ground operations in line with operational procedures, ensuring aircraft and operational areas are ready for daily use.
  • Facility & Site Management: Ensuring briefing rooms, simulator areas and operational spaces are prepared and presentable, maintaining a clean, organised and professional working environment, supporting general site readiness and day-to-day operational setup.
  • Customer & Student Experience: Acting as a point of contact for students and customers, supporting a professional, welcoming and organised experience, assisting students through their training journey and helping guide them through processes, supporting smooth transitions between bookings, lessons and sessions.
  • Team & Operational Support: Supporting instructors and other team members during daily operations, helping coordinate activity across the business, communicating effectively to ensure alignment on daily plans.

Working Conditions & Flexibility: The role is based on approximately 15 hours per week. Working days will include a mix of weekend working and flexible weekdays, agreed in advance. Due to the nature of aviation operations, some flexibility may be required. Shifts may vary week to week. Start and finish times may occasionally change at short notice.

Requirements: Ability to work approximately 15 hours per week with flexibility, strong organisational and time management skills, good communication and interpersonal skills, reliable, punctual and professional approach, ability to work in a fast-moving, hands-on environment, legally entitled to work in the UK, previous experience in an aviation environment, experience in an operations, coordination or customer-facing role, Private Pilot Licence (PPL) or active interest in flight training, familiarity with airfield or simulator operations.

£9,524 per annum (based on 15 hours per week), with scope for review based on experience.
