We are currently seeking a Temporary Accommodation Officer to join a busy local authority team based in Kingston. This is a temporary opportunity supporting the effective management of a wide range of temporary accommodation, including council hostels, private leased properties and accommodation managed by external providers. You will play a key role in ensuring accommodation is safe, compliant and suitable, while working closely with homeless households, internal teams and external partners to deliver a high-quality, person-centred service. This role reports to the Temporary Accommodation Team Manager and does not include line management responsibility.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage temporary accommodation across council hostels, private leased properties and supported accommodation
- Carry out property inspections, viewings, sign-ups and re-lets
- Ensure compliance with health and housing safety standards, including fire risk assessments
- Raise, monitor and follow up on repairs and property improvements with providers and contractors
- Build and maintain strong relationships with accommodation providers and partner agencies
- Support residents to sustain their accommodation
