Hours: 7.5 hours per week, term-time only

Pay: £13.46 PAYE / £17.24 Umbrella per hour

We are currently recruiting for a School Crossing Patrol Officer to support pedestrian safety in the heart of Chelmsford. This is a rewarding part-time opportunity for someone who is reliable, community-minded and confident engaging with the public. You will play an important role in helping children, families and other pedestrians cross safely during busy school travel times.

Working during term time only, you will be required to support the crossing once in the morning and once in the afternoon, Monday to Friday. The working times are approximately 08:00–09:00 and 14:45–15:45, although these may vary slightly depending on site requirements.

In this role, you will be responsible for giving clear signals to drivers, stopping traffic when required and ensuring pedestrians can cross safely. You will also help monitor the crossing point, report any issues or hazards, and ensure any uniform or equipment provided is kept in good condition.

We are looking for someone who is punctual, approachable and safety-conscious, with a genuine interest in supporting the community.
