We are recruiting 3 Civil Enforcement Officers to support parking enforcement services across Colchester on a temporary basis.
Working Hours
- Shifts between 07:30 – 19:00 with a 1-hour unpaid lunch
- Start and finish at Latton Bush, Southern Way, Harlow
- Rota-based and flexible working required
Key Duties
- Patrol on-street and off-street parking areas
- Enforce parking regulations and issue Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs)
- Communicate professionally with members of the public
- Deal calmly and tactfully with challenging situations
- Educate the public on parking restrictions where appropriate
- Attend adjudication hearings or court when required
- Report defects such as damaged signs or road markings
- Maintain and correctly use issued equipment and handheld devices
- Follow health & safety and data protection procedures
- Work independently and as part of a wider team
Essential Requirements
- Full, clean UK manual driving licence
- Good literacy and numeracy skills
- Clear verbal and written communication
- Physically fit and able to walk 10+ miles per day
- Confident using mobile applications and email
- High levels of integrity, organisation and attention to detail
- Ability to use initiative, judgement and discretion
- Willing to provide own footwear and black trousers (no denim)
Desirable Experience
- Previous parking enforcement or PCN issuing experience
- Knowledge of parking regulations and the Highway Code
- Understanding of the Traffic Management Act 2004
- Familiarity with roads across North Essex
