VNA Education is working in partnership with a rapidly improving secondary school to appoint an exceptional Head of PE to lead a popular, high‑profile department with strong student engagement and successful extra‑curricular provision. This is a key leadership opportunity for an ambitious PE specialist ready to drive curriculum quality, raise outcomes and develop a high‑performing team, while championing physical education, sport and wellbeing across the school.
The Role
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for PE across KS3 and KS4
- Lead curriculum design, sequencing and assessment to ensure excellent progress for all students
- Drive consistently high standards of teaching, learning and behaviour
- Use data and evaluation to identify underachievement and secure improvement
- Lead, coach and develop staff, embedding a reflective, high‑expectations culture
- Oversee and develop a strong extra‑curricular and competitive sports programme
- Promote PE’s contribution to attendance, wellbeing, character and aspiration
The ideal candidate
- Qualified teacher (QTS) with strong PE subject expertise
- Has proven or emerging subject leadership experience
- Demonstrates a deep understanding of curriculum, assessment and pedagogy in PE
