We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive mainstream school with a specialist SEND provision. The successful candidate will be working closely with students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), providing tailored support across primary and secondary phases. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of young people with additional needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with autism in both classroom and small-group settings.
  • Assist the class teacher in creating an inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environment.
  • Implement strategies to promote positive behaviour and student engagement.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of personalised learning plans.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, parents, and external professionals.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people with Autism/ASC.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confident supporting learning within primary and/or secondary settings.
  • Team Teach training or similar behaviour management experience is an advantage.
  • Must hold a current Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
  • Able to start immediately and commit to the duration of the placement.
