VMS Vehicle Hire Ltd is part of the fast growing VMS Automotive Group offering a range of services comprising of Contract Hire & Fleet Management, Accident Management as well as offering Maintenance Services from our inhouse workshops and a leading provider of transport refrigeration systems, air conditioning solutions and converting panel vans into commercial, refrigerated vehicles. VMS Automotive operate nationwide with workshops and vehicle hire sites throughout the UK with our Head Office based in Stevenage and our Operations centre based in Bury St Edmunds.

Job Requirements:
As part of our continued growth, we are now looking to appoint a HGV Driver. to assume responsibility for ensuring that vehicles are delivered and collected to clients’ premises in a timely and efficient manner. This position will be based from our Stevenage site but will also require visits to vehicles away from the workshop either for collection or delivery as required.
Our Drivers play a key role in our success and our standards and expectations are high. The role holder will be a confident individual with outstanding personal presentation. You will possess a good working knowledge of local roads and will demonstrate a highly positive attitude together with the ability to remain calm in pressured situations.
You will be responsible for ensuring that vehicles are checked and cleaned to the required standards and available, this will include preparing defleet and end of contract vehicles for resale as well as ensuring all vehicles are parked correctly in the yards and kept secure. You will maintain good communication with the office at all times and make a positive contribution to achieving site targets.
Ideally, you\’ll have some basic mechanical knowledge and be the kind of person who responds to customers with the utmost care and attention, providing the highest level of service to contribute positively to the growth of the branch. You\’ll be a great team player, assisting other team members in their roles when required. You will also be confident in driving a wide variety of different vehicle types.
You will hold a full driving license up to and including HGV vehicles as driving duties to this level will be required. You will also hold your driver’s card and have a current CPC certification
This will be a customer-facing role so the successful candidate will be expected to have strong customer care skills and good spoken English as well.
Key Tasks to include:
Insuring vehicles prepared for delivery are thoroughly checked before delivery
Agreeing condition of vehicle with client on delivery or collection and completing paperwork and photography routines to support this
Liaising with client regarding delivery times and locations
Returning vehicles to workshop in advance or returning via other means as agreed
General assistance in the workshop and yard as required and within the qualifications and experience of the post-holder
We are looking for individuals who possess the following Attributes and Qualifications:
A valid HGV license
Actual HGV driving experience
A current DIGI card
CPC card
Good Communication Skills
Clean Driving License
Good Interpersonal Skills
Excellent Sense of Direction
Attention to Detail is essential
