We are seeking a Technical Advisor/ Solution Architect to join ABB’s Process Automation Energy Industries (PAEN) Sales team in the UK. You will be the key technical expert supporting the sales team on greenfield automation opportunities, architecting and pricing competitive compliant solutions using the latest technologies, and engaging directly with customers to provide high‑impact technical leadership. Your primary goal: help win the job through sharp, well‑engineered and competitive automation solutions. Work model: remote from the UK.
Your Role And Responsibilities
- Act as the main technical authority for greenfield automation, leading all technical engagements and showcasing ABB’s leadership in industry forums and events.
- Develop competitive and compliant solutions: architect complete automation solutions in response to RFQs, define execution strategies, estimate engineering effort, identify and size project risks, and collaborate with Account Managers to refine cost and pricing.
- Produce high‑quality technical offers: prepare customer‑focused solutions that clearly present the proposed solution, demonstrate its value, and position ABB to win the opportunity.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation: evaluate emerging technologies and lead enhancements to processes and tools to sustain competitiveness and profitability.

Qualifications For The Role
- Minimum degree in Control Systems, Computing Engineering, or related technical field.
- Extensive experience designing complex greenfield automation systems—field to enterprise integration.
- Expert in ICSS and SCADA systems, strong proficiency in industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus, OPC, IEC 61850) and in system and network design, cybersecurity, and IEC standards.
- Hands‑on experience with ABB Control Systems (800xA, Symphony Plus, Freelance, AC500, Zenon).
- Proven experience in Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Water & Utilities, Chemicals, or emerging energy sectors (Offshore Wind, Hydrogen, Sustainable Aviation Fuel, Carbon Capture & Storage).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; fluency in English required.
- Results‑oriented, self‑motivated, well‑organized, pragmatic with strong problem‑solving and systems‑thinking mindset.
- Familiarity with ABB Adaptive Execution, XStream Engineering, and ABB Automation Vision is an advantage.
