About Us
VMC Consulting is a small but fast-growing consultancy specialising in the not-for-profit sector. We're continuing to forge a strong reputation for delivering high-quality consultancy services, tailored to our clients' needs.
The Role
You’ll take ownership of a portfolio of 5 - 8 client accounts at any one time, delivering the Trusts & Foundations element of their funding strategy and working alongside other specialists delivering other parts of the strategy. This is a delivery-focused role which requires you to take ownership of this part of the strategy, and drive it forward at pace.
In practice, you will:
- Build and manage a pipeline of Trusts & Foundations opportunities
- Work directly with clients to understand their overall strategy and shape strong, fundable propositions
- Write clear, compelling, and realistic bids
- Manage submissions end-to-end, ensuring quality and deadlines are met
- Drive activity forward
You’ll work alongside a senior consultant who oversees the overall strategy, but you’ll be expected to own your delivery and outcomes.
How We Work
We are a mixed team of in-house employees and associate consultants, all of whom are fully remote. This is not going to change - there will never be a requirement to spend a certain number of days in a physical office. For tax purposes, you will need to be a UK resident, eligible to work in the UK.
We expect you to focus on outcomes, and in return, we don’t dictate where you work or how you achieve those goals. What matters is the quality of your work and the results you deliver for your clients.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is comfortable taking ownership and working directly with clients. You’ll likely have:
- Experience securing funding from Trusts & Foundations and/or writing high-quality propositions
- The ability to manage multiple priorities across different clients
- The ability to understand broader strategy and where your work fits into it
- Strong judgment about what is fundable and what isn’t
Equally (if not more) important:
- You take initiative and move things forward without prompting
- You’re comfortable speaking directly with clients and building their confidence in us
- You keep things clear, simple, and focused on outcomes
- You welcome direct feedback and are comfortable working in an environment where we are open, honest, and direct with one another in order to keep moving forward together
It’s worth noting that we believe the right approach, attitude, and initiative are harder to teach than the skills required. Therefore, if you believe your values align and the role appeals to you, but you don’t necessarily have all the experience, we’re interested in hearing from you.
Package
£42,500 base salary + £2,000 annual bonus structure
Fully remote, flexible working
£500 annual training budget (we don’t dictate how this is spent - we believe development is development and it’s solely up to you how you spend this)
Pension contribution
Private health insurance (where eligible)
Our Approach
We can’t stress enough that we believe the organisation’s culture is essential to keep growing as a business. We want to build a team which is:
- High-quality in every aspect of its work
- Takes responsibility for the work it does, and actively seeks feedback to continually improve
- Is direct and honest with one another, in order to grow together
- Focuses on delivering clear results for clients, continuing to give confidence in our work
