Fractional Marketing Strategist (Outside IR35)

Opportunity to join a growing specialist professional services firm on a fractional basis, helping to shape and deliver the next phase of commercial growth.

Having achieved significant organic growth, the business is now seeking an experienced senior B2B marketing leader to develop a more structured and scalable marketing function that supports its long‑term ambitions.

Flexible location and working arrangements

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and challenge the current marketing approach, positioning and commercial strategy.
  • Develop a practical 12–24 month marketing strategy aligned to wider business objectives.
  • Refine market positioning, messaging and value proposition across key target sectors.
  • Develop effective go‑to‑market strategies for services, products and advisory offerings.
  • Review and strengthen the organisation’s website, content, collateral and thought leadership programme.
  • Recommend the optimal mix of referrals, partnerships, events, digital marketing and account‑based marketing.
  • Implement marketing KPIs, planning processes and reporting frameworks.
  • Manage and coordinate external agencies and specialist partners where required.
  • Coach and develop existing marketing and business development resources.
  • Advise on future commercial capability requirements, including additional marketing and sales resource.
  • Support both strategic planning and hands‑on implementation to build a sustainable marketing function.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience as a Chief Marketing Officer, Marketing Director, Chief Growth Officer or Fractional CMO.
  • Strong marketing leadership experience within professional services, consultancy, advisory or knowledge‑based businesses (B2B).
  • Track record of supporting growth within founder‑led or scaling organisations.
  • Experience developing marketing functions, processes and commercial strategies.
  • Strong understanding of thought leadership, reputation‑based marketing and relationship‑driven growth.
  • Commercially minded with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels.
  • Experience partnering closely with founders, business owners or senior leadership teams.
  • Pragmatic, hands‑on approach with excellent stakeholder management skills.
