Help shape the future of security for one of Manchester's most transformative tech organizations. Vix Technology is driving major change across how we work, how we deliver security‑led solutions for customers, and how we build smarter, more efficient processes internally. As the technology backbone behind the Bee Network and transport systems in more than 200 cities worldwide, we're scaling fast – and strengthening our security capabilities is at the heart of that growth. We're looking for a Security Engineer who wants to be part of that transformation. Someone who can bring deep technical security expertise, thrive in a high‑growth global environment, and play a hands‑on role in modernising how we protect data, systems, and services.

Working hybrid from our Manchester hub, you'll join a collaborative global team and help build the next generation of security operations.

What you'll be doing:

  • Driving improvements in security engineering through automation, tooling optimisation, scripting, Zero Trust adoption, and implementation of modern security practices.
  • Implementing security solutions across cloud and on‑prem environments including firewalls, SIEM, endpoint protection, IAM, vulnerability management etc.
  • Working closely with our global IT, Cloud, and Security Operations teams to ensure our systems stay secure, compliant, and resilient.
  • Designing, deploying, and maintaining security controls in line with recognised standards and compliance requirements such as GDPR, ISO 27001, PCI DSS etc.
  • Helping to deliver secure‑by‑design infrastructure, platforms, and services across all environments.
  • Providing technical guidance and security best practice recommendations to other teams within the business.
  • Evaluating emerging threats, attack techniques, and security technologies to continuously improve defensive capabilities and engineering standards.
  • Managing and supporting Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) services including certificate lifecycle management, encryption, key management, and secure authentication controls.
  • Strengthening our security posture by assessing and improving our controls, responding to incidents, and managing ongoing security optimisation programmes.
  • Bringing modern thinking to how we use technology to protect our company, our customers, and millions of daily transit users.

What you bring:

  • You will have strong experience in information security, incident management, and securing cloud and on‑prem environments.
  • You’ll be confident working with modern tools like SIEM, XDR, and IAM platforms, with practical knowledge across networking, Linux/Windows environments, and security architecture.
  • You’ll bring curiosity, sound judgement, and the ability to collaborate across global teams to deliver practical, high‑quality security outcomes in a fast‑moving organisation.
  • Proven engineering experience and securing AWS environments using services such as IAM, GuardDuty, Security Hub, CloudTrail, WAF, and KMS is required.

This role is open to UK citizens or residents with full, ongoing work rights.

Benefits:

  • A focus on learning and development
  • A great team of like‑minded professionals
  • Private Healthcare
  • Income Protection Scheme
  • Pension
  • Group Life Assurance
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Electric Car Benefit Scheme
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Eyecare and Spectacle Vouchers
