We are looking for a PowerBI Analyst to join on a 3–6-month contract, supporting critical data and reporting initiatives. This role is ideal for someone who can quickly embed into the business, work closely with stakeholders, and turn complex, messy data into clear, actionable insights. We’re open to candidates based in London or Bulgaria who are confident owning end-to-end BI delivery, from data modelling and DAX to governance, quality, and insight-led storytelling.

Responsibilities

  • Own the design, development, and maintenance of Power BI dashboards and reports.
  • Build and maintain data models that are reliable, well-structured, and appropriate for the complexity of the questions being asked.
  • Write DAX measures and Power Query transformations that are efficient, documented, and consistent with agreed standards.
  • Ensure all BI outputs meet data quality and governance requirements before they reach stakeholders.

Stakeholder Engagement And Requirements

  • Work directly with stakeholders and communicate findings clearly to non-technical audiences, making the insight (not the method) the focal point.
  • Manage requests, setting realistic expectations on timelines and prioritising work that has the most business value.

Data Accuracy and Governance

  • Support the maintenance of data quality across BI outputs and flagging inconsistencies to resolve upstream issues.
  • Apply and maintain appropriate data security and access controls within Power BI, in line with agreed governance standards.

Insight and Analysis

  • Investigate root causes, surface patterns, and present analysis that supports a decision or action.
  • Identify opportunities where existing data could answer questions the business has not yet thought to ask.

Skills And Experience Required

  • Able to build and maintain complex Power BI reports and dashboards to a production standard, including data model design, DAX authoring, and Power Query transformations.
  • Strong SQL skills with the ability to query, join, and manipulate data from relational databases without support.
  • Able to translate business questions into a structured analytical approach with a clear output.
  • Comfortable working with large, messy, or poorly documented datasets and producing reliable outputs from them.
  • Communicates analytical findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders, focusing on the insight and its implications rather than the method.
  • Understands data governance principles including data quality, access control, and documentation, and applies them in practice.
  • Able to manage a backlog of competing requests, prioritise effectively, and set realistic expectations with stakeholders.
  • Investigates root causes rather than stopping at surface-level description; challenges assumptions in the data and in the brief.
