Stop Managing One Plant. Start Shaping an Industry. Most AD engineers spend their careers focused on one or two sites. This role offers something different. As Technical Support Manager, you'll become the trusted technical voice for more than 380 member organisations, helping operators optimise plant performance, navigate complex regulations and raise technical standards across the UK and global biogas sector.

Working across both ADBA and WBA, you'll support the delivery of technical guidance, certification schemes, training programmes and industry best practice while helping shape the future of anaerobic digestion.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and regulatory support to operators and supply chain members
  • Develop and maintain industry best practice guidance
  • Deliver and grow the Anaerobic Digestion Certification Scheme (ADCS)
  • Design and deliver technical training, webinars and Regional Operators Meetings
  • Work with regulators, policymakers and industry stakeholders to improve technical standards
  • Support the development of ADBA and WBA's technical consultancy services

Requirements:

  • Several years' hands-on operational experience managing anaerobic digestion plants
  • Strong knowledge of UK AD regulations, environmental permitting, health & safety and compliance
  • Ability to troubleshoot operational, engineering and biological challenges
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical issues to a range of audiences
  • Experience delivering technical guidance, training or knowledge sharing
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach

Please note: This role is not suitable for graduates, early-career engineers or candidates whose experience is primarily advisory, academic or sales-focused.

Desirable experience:

  • Experience in AD plant design, commissioning or construction
  • Experience with certification or management systems (e.g. ADCS, ISO)
  • Background in wastewater, food waste or agricultural AD
  • Experience working with industry groups, regulators or technical committees

This is an opportunity to influence an entire industry - not just a single facility. You'll work at the heart of the UK's energy transition, helping shape technical best practice, support policy development and contribute to the continued growth of the global biogas sector. The role also offers a clear pathway into senior technical and strategic leadership.
