Location: RAF Croughton (with occasional travel to Barford St Johns)
Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
Salary: £40,000 - £44,000 depending on experience
We are seeking a skilled and motivated HVAC Engineer to join a high-performing team at RAF Croughton. This is more than a standard maintenance role; it is an opportunity to support critical infrastructure within the UK Defence sector while working with advanced systems in a professional and purpose-driven environment.
Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, you will be working in a HVAC team of two engineers. While there will be opportunities to work collaboratively, the role will predominantly involve lone working, requiring confidence, independence, and strong problem-solving ability.
What You Will Be Doing
In this role, you will carry out both planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across a range of HVAC systems within commercial and domestic buildings on site. Tasks will be allocated to you via PDA or paper-based job sheets, with your workload scheduled in advance to support efficient delivery.
You will be responsible for completing all tasks within agreed timescales and meeting key performance indicators, ensuring all associated documentation is accurately recorded and submitted. The role involves diagnosing faults, undertaking repairs, and completing minor installation and refurbishment works where required.
You will work independently for the majority of your time but will also collaborate with the wider operations team when required, reporting directly to the Technical Services Manager. Maintaining high standards of Health and Safety is essential, including ensuring all RAMS are in place prior to starting work and complying with COSHH and RIDDOR regulations.
You will also liaise with military personnel, DIO representatives, and supply chain partners, delivering a consistently high standard of service within a high-profile defence environment.
What You Bring
You will hold a City and Guilds qualification in Air Conditioning or an equivalent certification, along with F-Gas Category 1 qualification and experience in the safe handling of refrigerants. Strong practical experience in HVAC maintenance and repairs is essential, alongside a good understanding of Health and Safety regulations.
You must hold a full UK driving licence. The role requires someone who is reliable, punctual, self‑motivated, and able to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients.
Experience working within commercial environments is beneficial, and previous exposure to MOD environments or JSP 375 is advantageous. A hydrocarbon refrigerant qualification is desirable, along with any additional First Aid or Health and Safety certifications.
Due to the nature of this role, candidates must be eligible to obtain Security Clearance.
If you are an experienced HVAC Engineer looking for a rewarding and challenging role where your expertise will have real impact, we encourage you to apply and become part of a team dedicated to maintaining essential infrastructure.
We offer:
- 6% employee matched pension contribution
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
- Work van and fuel card
At VIVO, we are committed to building a diverse and inclusive organisation that supports the needs of all. Therefore, we will make reasonable adjustments at interview through to employment for our candidates and strongly encourage applications from a diverse candidate pool.

Disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the job will be given the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities at an interview.
