Are you looking for a meaningful career where what you do behind the scenes really matters? Whether you\’re just starting out, returning to work, or seeking a new challenge in a hands-on environment, this is a unique opportunity to step into the heart of defence engineering and support a mission that keeps the country safe.
The Role
As an Engineering Craftsman Support, you\’ll work as part of a dedicated on-site team, helping ensure the smooth, safe, and efficient running of a critical power station supporting UK defence operations. Your work will involve assisting experienced engineers with both planned and reactive maintenance, recording daily meter readings, supporting site security, escorting contractors and deliveries, and even learning how to operate key equipment like generators. You\’ll help keep the environment clean, organised and operational, and play a key role in ensuring high safety standards are always met.
What You\’ll Bring
This is more than just a job-it\’s a gateway into the world of engineering, defence, and technical operations. You don\’t need to have formal technical qualifications to apply, just a keen interest in mechanics and/or engineering and a minimum age of 18. What matters most is your attitude: we\’re looking for someone who\’s dependable, eager to learn, and takes pride in doing things right.
To be successful here, you\’ll need to be punctual, reliable, and ready to work shift patterns, including nights. You\’ll need to be able to follow clear instructions, stay focused on safety at all times, and be comfortable using computer or paper-based systems to record important information. You\’ll also need a full UK driving licence or a reliable way to get to site as there is no public transport, and you must be a British national to meet the security clearance requirements for this role. You must be at least 18 years old to apply.
Most importantly, you\’ll bring an interest in engineering and mechanics-whether it\’s something you\’ve always been curious about or something you\’ve dabbled in. If you enjoy learning how things work, fixing things, or want to explore a career in the engineering or defence sectors, this role could be your ideal starting point.
In return, we\’ll give you all the training you need, invest in your development, and provide a supportive team environment where your contribution truly makes a difference. You\’ll attend regular briefings, be kept up to date with technical and safety procedures, and have the chance to build skills that could take you further in the industry.
If you\’re ready to be part of something bigger, where every task supports a national mission, we\’d love to hear from you. Step into a role where you don\’t just go to work-you help power the future of defence.
What We Offer
In addition to 25 days annual leave, 6% employee matched pension contribution and life assurance at 1x annual salary, we offer exceptional career development and training opportunities for those that want them. Whether it\’s an Engineering apprenticeship, management training courses, or simply an interesting role to see you through to retirement, we will support your career goals, whatever that looks like for you.
Apply now and take your first step into an exciting and vital career.
