Are you a confident communicator with a passion for storytelling and a knack for making complex messages clear, engaging, and meaningful? Do you thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy working closely with operational teams, and want your work to make a real difference? If so, this could be the perfect opportunity to take your next career step as Communications & Engagement Manager at VIVO Defence Services.
The Role
This is more than just a comms role-it\’s your chance to become the trusted partner to our contract leadership teams across the South-East and South-West. You\’ll shape and deliver engaging communication strategies that bring VIVO\’s values to life on the ground. From safety culture and operational performance to customer service and community engagement, you\’ll help ensure our teams are informed, inspired, and aligned.
You\’ll be on the ground at military and operational sites, getting to know the people who deliver essential services every day. You\’ll craft briefings, newsletters, case studies, signage, and presentations that hit the right tone for each audience-whether it\’s frontline staff, managers, or key stakeholders. You\’ll also manage internal channels and support communication in response to key events, changes, and challenges, ensuring consistency of message and clarity of purpose.
This role is for someone who enjoys working independently while staying closely connected to a national team. You\’ll work hand-in-hand with our Head of Communications to keep your messaging aligned with the bigger picture, while maintaining the freedom to adapt and tailor communications to the unique needs of each site you support. Whether it\’s showcasing great work, improving engagement, or managing sensitive communications, you\’ll be the voice that keeps people informed and united.
What You\’ll Bring
You\’ll need experience in internal communications or employee engagement-ideally in facilities management, Defence, or critical services-and you should be confident in turning operational complexity into clear, relevant messages. You\’ll be familiar with tools like SharePoint, Yammer, Teams, or Canva, and be as comfortable leading a site briefing as you are creating an eye-catching poster. Most importantly, you\’re someone who listens well, acts quickly, and builds trust wherever you go.
This is a mobile role with regular travel to sites across England, from the South coast to North Yorkshire, with regualr meetings in our Birmingham office. It\’s varied, fast-moving, and highly visible. You\’ll be the local face of our communications function, working closely with our teams, supply chain partners, and Defence stakeholders to ensure VIVO\’s purpose and values are felt at every level.
If you\’re ready to step into a role where you\’ll have real impact, build strong relationships, and grow your career in a business that values clarity, connection, and care-we\’d love to hear from you.
