Contract & Location
Full‑time, Permanent. Home‑based with travel to VIVO sites across the UK, including Catterick, Wales and Norfolk. Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday‑to‑Friday.
About the Role
As Security Officer you will support security governance, investigations, and compliance across VIVO, working closely with the General Counsel, Security Managers and Defence Infrastructure Organisation stakeholders. Your responsibilities include:
- Conducting health checks, audits, and compliance reviews of VIVO offices and operational sites.
- Ensuring security arrangements align with Ministry of Defence, DIO, government and VIVO policies, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Supporting investigations into security incidents, misconduct, fraud, and policy breaches by gathering and analysing evidence, maintaining interview records, producing professional reports, and developing recommendations.
- Assisting the Vetting Team with security clearances and pre‑employment screening, while managing confidential records in accordance with security and data protection requirements.
- Providing guidance on physical, personnel and information security, contributing to fraud prevention initiatives and security risk assessments.
- Raising security awareness and encouraging a culture where security is everyone's responsibility.
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with VIVO colleagues, Ministry of Defence representatives, DIO stakeholders and external partners, supporting meetings, assurance reviews and policy development.
What You'll Need
You will be someone who can:
- Handle highly confidential information with professionalism, discretion, calmness, organisation and objectivity.
- Work independently, manage competing priorities and apply analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Communicate clearly in writing and verbally, producing concise reports and engaging effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with investigations, audits, compliance activities or security assurance work.
- Knowledge of personnel security, government security requirements and UK vetting processes; understanding of security risk management, fraud prevention or investigation techniques is an advantage.
- Self‑management and a willingness to travel regularly across UK VIVO offices and operational sites to conduct security assurance activities, audits and investigations.
