About the Role
A Void Maintenance Officer will take ownership of a portfolio of vacant Service Family Accommodation within your allocated area, working independently to keep properties secure, protected from deterioration and maintained to the highest standard throughout the void period.
Responsibilities include:
- Carrying out detailed property inspections, completing condition surveys and producing photographic records at the start and end of the void maintenance period.
- Identifying defects, preparing initial scopes of work for repairs and highlighting opportunities to improve the void maintenance process.
- Regularly inspecting properties to ensure they remain secure, wind- and weather-proof, and identifying any maintenance requirements before they become larger issues.
- Managing heating and water systems to prevent damage during vacancy, ensuring statutory and mandatory inspections remain compliant, and reporting any security concerns, vandalism or unauthorised occupation immediately.
- Producing accurate weekly and monthly reports, managing utility information and working collaboratively with colleagues, customers and supply chain partners to deliver an efficient and professional service.
About You
We are looking for someone who is self‑motivated, organised and confident working independently while managing a varied workload.
Essential attributes and experience include:
- Strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to build positive working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and working with tablets and mobile technology on site.
- A manual UK driving licence, as travel across your designated area will form part of the role.
- Experience in void property maintenance, repairs or working within a Ministry of Defence environment, as well as knowledge of statutory property compliance (asbestos management, legionella, energy performance or related legislation) would be advantageous.
- Relevant vocational qualifications, such as an NVQ Level 4, and evidence of continued professional development would also be welcomed.
