Role Overview: We are looking for an experienced and technically minded Service Manager to oversee the delivery of maintenance services across site operations. The role is key to ensuring reactive repairs, planned preventative maintenance (PPM), remedial works and Billable Works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with agreed performance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of day‑to‑day service delivery, coordinating internal teams, Tier One suppliers and specialist contractors.
- Monitor operational performance, review work schedules, progress reports and key milestones to identify risks and address issues before they impact delivery.
- Manage contractors and supply chain partners, ensuring they deliver value for money and meet agreed expectations.
- Plan and deliver additional works, obtain quotations, arrange resources, manage purchase orders and coordinate materials and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety and contractual requirements; maintain documentation, risk assessments, method statements and permits.
- Maintain accurate records and update CAFM systems; keep asset information, inspection reports and certifications up to date.
- Carry out regular assurance checks, support continuous improvement and provide technical guidance to operational teams, customers and stakeholders.
- Support statutory compliance activities, including asbestos, legionella and temporary works coordination.
- Resolve customer concerns, improve service performance and support delivery of smaller Billable Works projects.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience managing service delivery within facilities management, property maintenance, engineering or a similar operational environment.
- Strong understanding of maintenance operations, safe systems of work and compliance requirements, with experience managing reactive repairs, planned maintenance and remedial works.
- Technical background in an electrical or mechanical discipline preferred, supported by a relevant Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of CAFM systems, JSP 375, SFG20 and health and safety processes advantageous.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with customers, contractors and internal stakeholders.
- Experience within the MOD environment or regulated estates desirable; qualifications such as IOSH Managing Safely, NEBOSH, SMSTS or CDM awareness are a plus.
- Organised, proactive, able to manage competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
- Ability to obtain SC Security Clearance is required for this role.
