Job Details

  • Location: Chippenham, Wiltshire, GB, SN15 4AB – also available at MoD Lyneham
  • Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent
  • Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (8:00 AM-5:00 PM) with on call 1 in 6/8 weeks
  • Salary: £38,000 per year

Repair Supervisor – Role Summary

This role sits at the heart of the Housing Maintenance service and is critical to ensuring the smooth, safe and efficient delivery of responsive repairs across accommodation within the UK Defence estate.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting directly to the VIVO Delivery Manager and working with another Repairs Supervisor, taking ownership of day‑to‑day operational delivery of a diverse and technically complex responsive repairs service.
  • Providing strong, visible leadership to a multi‑disciplinary workforce, ensuring staff are supported, motivated, and effective in their roles.
  • Managing productivity, performance and quality across all workstreams while focusing on customer satisfaction and safety.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and supply‑chain partners to deliver operational, financial and customer targets in line with business plans and service level agreements.
  • Monitoring performance indicators, job volumes and trade output to maximise efficiency, proactively troubleshooting issues and implementing best practice to reduce waste and downtime.
  • Managing a directly employed team consisting of electricians, plumbers, roofers and a labourer; overseeing subcontractors where required.
  • Conducting regular site audits to ensure compliance with health and safety standards, quality requirements, fire safety obligations and customer service expectations.
  • Delivering toolbox talks, site inductions, supporting performance management and acting as the first point of contact for out‑of‑hours escalation.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing technical and compliance‑led property maintenance services within a contractual environment.
  • Experience as a supervisor of a team of operatives with a strong understanding of health and safety, regulatory compliance and British Standards.
  • HNC or equivalent level of qualification or experience; Level 2 Diploma or NVQ in a relevant maintenance trade.
  • Strong IT capability and experience of contract management and schedules of rates.
  • Exceptional communication skills, flexibility, integrity, innovation and a caring leadership approach.
  • Formal or practical training in permit‑to‑work systems, risk assessments and method statements (highly desirable).
