KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Study and understand design sketches, patterns, and specifications provided by the Pattern Cutter or the Designer.
- Collaborate closely with Designers to clarify any ambiguities and ensure accurate interpretation of the design concept.
- Understand and read garment patterns to ensure they match the Designer’s specifications.
- Work with all fabrics and understand their properties, such as silk satin, taffeta, duchesse, chiffon, velvet, sequins, lace and lace border and inserts.
- Operate industrial sewing machines and other equipment to assemble garments.
- Sew and join fabric pieces with precision, paying attention to seam allowances, stitching techniques, and finishing details.
- Add embellishments, trims, and other decorative elements to enhance the garment's aesthetic appeal.
- Pay close attention to fine details, such as hand stitching, to achieve a high level of craftsmanship.
- Conduct quality checks at various stages of garment construction to ensure the final product meets the Designer's standards.
- Make any necessary adjustments or corrections to achieve the desired quality.
- Collaborate with other members of the design and production team to address any issues and ensure a smooth workflow and to bring the design concept to fruition.
- Produce prototypes and high-quality bespoke garments based on the designer's specifications.
- Work efficiently to meet tight deadlines and production schedules.
- Prioritise tasks and manage time effectively to ensure timely delivery of samples.
