Contractually based out of our Portsmouth office, you’ll be predominantly based in Chichester and the surrounding communities. This is a full-time permanent position working 37 hours per week, with a minimum of 20% of this to be office based to promote collaboration and team working. Travel across the wider operational area will also be required occasionally. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to projects that make a real difference within our communities.

Here’s The Facts About The Role

As Place Shaping Advisor, you'll be responsible for creating, implementing, delivering and reviewing community investment activities required through our VIVID Plus commitments, while also developing innovative place shaping projects that support stronger, more connected communities and contribute to VIVID Plus objectives and outcomes. Working across our development programme and existing communities, you'll play a key role in identifying local needs, developing community-led solutions and creating opportunities that deliver lasting social value.

You’ll support the operational and strategic management of community centres, helping them become sustainable, vibrant hubs that bring together residents, community groups, social enterprises and partner organisations. Using community insight, customer feedback and internal data, you’ll work closely with colleagues and external stakeholders to understand local priorities, identify where support is needed most and develop targeted programmes that align with our VIVID Plus commitments, objectives and outcomes.

The role involves developing, coordinating and evaluating a range of community-based projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and achieve meaningful outcomes for local people. You’ll build strong partnerships with local organisations, schools, agencies and community groups, helping to unlock resources, secure external funding and create opportunities that empower communities to become more resilient and self-sustaining.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication, time management and organisational skills and the ability to form effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders both internal and external. You’ll have experience of developing and evaluating community projects, managing multiple priorities and working collaboratively with a wide range of partners, agencies and stakeholders. A strong understanding of community investment, place shaping principles and the social housing sector is essential, along with knowledge of Section 106 funding, Asset Based Community Development and how it can be used to create lasting community legacy. As this role involves travel, a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use is a requirement. Business mileage will be paid.
