We’re looking for an Empty Homes Inspector to join our Empty Homes team in Hampshire. This role allows for a contractual base out of either our Portsmouth or Basingstoke office as you’ll be working across Hampshire and surrounding areas. This is a full time, permanent role, working 37 hours per week.

Here’s The Facts About The Role:

As Empty Homes Inspector, you’ll be helping us deliver safe, high-quality homes ready for new customers. In this role, you’ll be the onsite quality assurance presence for all of our Empty/Void properties - making sure works are completed safely, to specification, and to a right first time standard. You’ll carry out inspections, monitor contractor performance, and ensure every home meets HHSRS and building safety requirements before handover.

What You’ll Be Doing (non-exhaustive List):

  • Carrying out mid-void, post-void, and weekly inspections on empty homes, ensuring compliance with gas, electrical, asbestos, fire safety, and water hygiene requirements
  • Ensuring all properties meet standards such as (Decant, HHSRS, Awaab’s Law) and organisational specifications before letting
  • Monitoring contractor performance, challenging poor workmanship, and ensuring defects are resolved quickly
  • Completing joint inspections with contractors and maintaining accurate, consistent inspection reports
  • Working closely with our lettings and neighbourhood teams to ensure smooth, timely handovers
  • Providing feedback and progress updates to managers and contributing to improvements in void standards, processes, and cost efficiency
  • Supporting a strong health and safety culture through regular inspections and risk assessment awareness.

We’re looking for someone with experience in property inspections, housing maintenance/repairs, or a similar technical role. You’ll have a solid understanding of void standards, building safety, and compliance areas. You’ll have strong attention to detail and the ability to inspect and identify defects or issues. You’ll have the interpersonal skills and confidence to work with contractors and other stakeholders and challenge poor workmanship where you see it. You’ll also have the ability to produce clear, accurate reports and will be competent using IT devices. In this role you’ll utilise your excellent communication skills, good organisational skills, and a practical, solution focused approach, helping us to deliver a high-quality service to our customers. A full, clean current driving licence (held for at least 1 year) is needed so you can drive one of our vans when necessary. Offers are subject to satisfactory driving licence checks.
