An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Transport Planner to join a well-established Development Planning team in London. Working across a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, industrial, logistics, retail, education, and mixed-use developments throughout London and the South East, you will play a key role in leading transport planning projects and delivering strategic advice to support successful planning applications.
This position offers the opportunity to work on high-profile development schemes, manage client relationships, contribute to business growth, and mentor junior team members within a collaborative and technically respected consultancy environment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the preparation and delivery of Transport Assessments (TAs), Transport Statements (TSs), Travel Plans, Delivery & Servicing Plans, and other transport planning documents.
- Manage transport planning inputs for a wide range of development projects from feasibility stage through to planning determination.
- Undertake and oversee transport impact assessments, accessibility studies, and sustainable transport strategies.
- Review and interpret transport, traffic, parking, and active travel data to support planning applications.
- Manage junction capacity assessments and provide oversight of transport modelling exercises where required.
- Liaise directly with clients, local authorities, Transport for London, architects, planning consultants, and other stakeholders throughout the planning process.
- Lead technical discussions and negotiations with planning and highway authorities.
- Support planning appeals, public consultations, and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Prepare and review high-quality technical reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant standards and guidance.
- Manage project budgets, programmes, and resources to ensure successful project delivery.
- Mentor and support junior members of the team, contributing to their professional development.
- Assist with business development activities, including client engagement and proposal preparation.

- Degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, Urban Planning, or a related discipline.
- Significant experience within a transport planning consultancy or development planning environment.
- Strong understanding of the UK planning system, development planning process, and relevant transport policy.
- Experience leading Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, and Travel Plans for planning applications.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and client relationships simultaneously.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

- Knowledge of Transport for London guidance, London Plan policies, and borough-specific planning requirements.

- Chartered status or working towards Chartership with CIHT, TPS, ICE, or a related professional institution.
