We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team in Central London. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated professional to take ownership of major construction projects across commercial, residential, mixed-use, fit-out, infrastructure, and regeneration sectors. The successful candidate will manage the commercial and contractual aspects of projects from inception through to final account, ensuring cost control, profitability, and successful project delivery while maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial management of multiple construction projects.
- Prepare detailed cost plans, budgets, estimates and feasibility studies.
- Produce Bills of Quantities (BoQs) and tender documentation.
- Manage procurement of subcontractors and suppliers.
- Evaluate tenders and negotiate contract terms.
- Administer construction contracts including NEC, JCT and Design & Build contracts.
- Prepare interim valuations, payment applications and final accounts.
- Monitor project costs, cash flow, forecasts and cost reporting.
- Identify commercial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Manage variations, compensation events and change control processes.
- Prepare monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).
- Negotiate and agree subcontractor accounts.
- Resolve contractual and commercial disputes where necessary.
- Provide commercial advice to project managers and senior leadership.
- Ensure projects are delivered within budget while maximising profitability.
- Attend client meetings and present commercial reports.
- Mentor and support Assistant and Quantity Surveyors.
- Maintain compliance with company procedures and industry regulations.
Essential Requirements
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related construction discipline.
- Minimum 7–10 years' Quantity Surveying experience.
- Previous experience working for a Main Contractor, Consultancy or Developer.
- Strong knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts.
- Experience delivering projects valued between £5m–£100m+.
- Excellent commercial awareness and contractual knowledge.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and commercial reporting software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Full UK working rights.
Desirable Qualifications
- MRICS Chartered Status (or working towards Chartership).
- Experience with CostX, Bluebeam, CEMAR or similar commercial software.
- Knowledge of procurement strategies and value engineering.
- Experience managing high-profile London construction projects.
