We are looking for an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer to join my clients team on a flexible, part-time basis. This role is ideal for someone with strong housing enforcement knowledge and a passion for improving housing standards.

Role Overview

You will be responsible for delivering housing enforcement services, including:

  • Investigating complaints and service requests relating to housing conditions
  • Carrying out inspections under the Housing Act 2004 and HHSRS assessments
  • Preparing and serving statutory notices where required
  • Managing enforcement actions, including prosecutions and civil penalties
  • Liaising with landlords, tenants, and partner agencies to resolve housing issues
  • Supporting initiatives to improve private sector housing standards

Requirements

  • Proven experience in private sector housing enforcement
  • Strong knowledge of housing legislation, including Housing Act 2004 and HHSRS
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload independently
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
