The Role

We are working with a growing consultancy in Nottingham who are looking to appoint a Transport Planner to join their expanding transport planning team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Transport Planner looking to work on a varied range of development and infrastructure projects, with exposure to both technical delivery and client-facing work. You will be involved in projects from initial feasibility and masterplanning through to planning submission and implementation, working closely with clients, local authorities, developers and multidisciplinary project teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans
  • Providing transport planning advice for residential, commercial and mixed-use developments
  • Undertaking development feasibility and transport strategy work
  • Supporting the preparation of planning applications and associated technical reports
  • Carrying out junction and network assessments, including traffic modelling where required
  • Liaising with local authorities, clients and other project stakeholders
  • Contributing to masterplanning and site access strategies
  • Supporting the development and delivery of sustainable and active travel solutions
  • Assisting with the management of projects, programmes and client relationships
  • Working collaboratively with wider multidisciplinary teams

About You

  • Experience working within a transport planning consultancy or similar environment
  • Strong understanding of development planning and the UK planning system
  • Experience preparing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and/or Travel Plans
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work to deadlines
  • Comfortable communicating with clients, local authorities and other stakeholders
  • A relevant degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography or a related discipline is desirable
  • Membership of a relevant professional body, or working towards membership, would be advantageous
