GL Accountant – International Career Opportunities

I'm working with a leading international group operating across construction products, specialty coatings and building materials, who are looking to strengthen their UK finance team with a GL Accountant based in Newcastle.

What will you be doing?
You'll play an important role in the accounting operations of the UK entities, working across general ledger activities, month-end closing and financial reporting.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and reviewing general ledger transactions and journal entries.
- Reconciling balance sheet accounts and ensuring the accuracy of financial records.
- Supporting month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Working with the international shared-service team in India, reviewing completed work and helping maintain the quality of the UK entities' accounts.
- Supporting audits, internal controls and ongoing process improvements.
- Collaborating with colleagues across finance and the wider business.
Who are they looking for?
- At least 5 years of accounting experience, including accounts payable/receivable and some hands-on general ledger experience.
- A solid understanding of month-end closing, reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Strong Excel skills and experience working with ERP/accounting systems.
- Someone analytical, organised and comfortable taking ownership of their work.
