Senior Transport Planner β Development Planning Location: London (Hybrid Working Available) Salary: Competitive + Benefits The Opportunity An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Transport Planner to join a well-established Development Planning team in London. Working across a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, industrial, logistics, retail, education, and mixed-use developments throughout London and the South East, you will play a key role in leading transport planning projects and delivering strategic advice to support successful planning applications .This position offers the opportunity to work on high-profile development schemes, manage client relationships, contribute to business growth, and mentor junior team members within a collaborative and technically respected consultancy environment. Key Responsibilities Lead the preparation and delivery of Transport Assessments (TAs), Transport Statements (TSs), Travel Plans, Delivery & Servicing Plans, and other transport planning documents. Manage transport planning inputs for a wide range of development projects from feasibility stage through to planning determination. Undertake and oversee transport impact assessments, accessibility studies, and sustainable transport strategies. Review and interpret transport, traffic, parking, and active travel data to support planning applications. Manage junction capacity assessments and provide oversight of transport modelling exercises where required. Liaise directly with clients, local authorities, Transport for London, architects, planning consultants, and other stakeholders throughout the planning process. Lead technical discussions and negotiations with planning and highway authorities. Support planning appeals, public consultations, and stakeholder engagement activities. Prepare and review high-quality technical reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant standards and guidance. Manage project budgets, programmes, and resources to ensure successful project delivery. Mentor and support junior members of the team, contributing to their professional development. Assist with business development activities, including client engagement and proposal preparation. Requirements Essential Degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, Urban Planning, or a related discipline. Significant experience within a transport planning consultancy or development planning environment. Strong understanding of the UK planning system, development planning process, and relevant transport policy. Experience leading Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, and Travel Plans for planning applications. Proven ability to manage multiple projects and client relationships simultaneously. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Desirable Experience working on developments across London and the South East. Knowledge of Transport for London guidance, London Plan policies, and borough-specific planning requirements. Experience using industry-standard software including TRICS, TEMPro, Junctions 10 (PICADY/ARCADY), LINSIG, GIS, and transport modelling tools. Chartered status or working towards Chartership with CIHT, TPS, ICE, or a related professional institution. Experience mentoring junior staff and managing project teams.
