My client is seeking an experienced Licensing Enforcement Officer to join their Licensing team within a forward-thinking local authority. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a service that values professionalism, innovation, and flexible working arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out inspections and compliance checks on licensed premises under the Licensing Act 2003, including taxi enforcement, alcohol sales, entertainment, and late-night refreshment.
  • Enforce licensing requirements for Hackney Carriage and Private Hire drivers and vehicles, ensuring public safety and adherence to regulations.
  • Undertake enforcement duties under the Gambling Act, including premises inspections and investigations.
  • Investigate complaints, gather evidence, and take appropriate enforcement action, including preparing and serving legal notices.
  • Provide advice and guidance to businesses, license holders, and the public on licensing legislation and compliance.
  • Prepare reports and represent the council at hearings, committees, and court proceedings where necessary.

  • Strong knowledge of licensing legislation, including the Licensing Act 2003, Gambling Act, and taxi licensing regulations.
  • Previous experience in licensing enforcement or a similar regulatory role within local government.

  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload effectively.
