About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Chartered Town Planner (MRTPI) to join a well-established and growing Planning team based in Leeds.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects across the residential, commercial, industrial, logistics, retail, education, healthcare, energy and mixed-use sectors throughout Yorkshire and the wider UK.
Working alongside developers, landowners, housebuilders, investors and public sector clients, you'll provide strategic planning advice from site identification and promotion through to planning permission and project delivery.
You'll play a key role in delivering commercially focused planning solutions while building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage a varied portfolio of planning projects from inception through to completion.
- Prepare, coordinate and submit planning applications across a broad range of development sectors.
- Produce Planning Statements, Design and Access Statements, Planning Appraisals, Local Plan representations and other supporting planning documents.
- Provide strategic planning advice throughout the development lifecycle.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, local planning authorities, statutory consultees and project stakeholders.
- Lead negotiations with planning officers and consultees to help secure successful planning outcomes.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, including transport planners, engineers, environmental consultants and architects.
- Undertake site appraisals, identifying planning opportunities, constraints and development potential.
- Support planning appeals through the preparation of appeal statements and evidence where required.
- Monitor changes in planning legislation, national policy and local development plans.
- Contribute to business development by preparing fee proposals, networking and identifying opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
- Mentor and support junior members of the planning team.
About You
We're looking for a commercially minded planner with excellent technical knowledge and a passion for delivering successful development projects.
You will have
- Chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI).
- Experience within a planning consultancy, local authority or developer environment.
- A strong understanding of the UK planning system, planning policy and development management processes.
- Experience managing planning applications across a variety of sectors.
- Excellent report writing, communication and presentation skills.
- Strong project management and organisational abilities.
- Confidence managing client relationships and representing projects at meetings.
- A proactive, collaborative and solution-focused approach.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable Skills
- Experience promoting sites through the Local Plan process.
- Knowledge of planning appeals and inquiry procedures.
- Experience delivering major and complex development projects.
- Existing relationships within the Yorkshire planning and development sector.
- Full UK driving licence.
