About the role

Our client, a local authority, is looking for a Homelessness Prevention Officer to join their housing team in Haywards Heath on an interim basis. • Carry out assessments and develop personalised housing plans with clients
  • Provide advice and casework aimed at preventing and relieving homelessness
  • Work with private landlords, housing providers and other partners to secure and sustain accommodation
  • Make decisions on homelessness duties and issue clear, well‑reasoned decision letters
  • Arrange and manage temporary accommodation where required
  • Liaise with support services, social care, health professionals and other agencies
  • Respond to reviews and enquiries within statutory timescales
  • Maintain accurate case records and meet performance targets

  • Sound knowledge of homelessness legislation, including the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017
  • Experience managing a caseload and working to statutory deadlines
