The predicted salary is between 28800 - 43200 £ per year.

As a Graduate/Assistant Urban Designer, you would work in collaboration with senior colleagues to liaise with developers, local communities, other consultants and local authorities on a range of multi-disciplinary projects including urban extensions, urban regeneration, development masterplans and preparation of accompanying reports., * Assist in the preparation of high-quality planning documents, including visions, design and access statements, design codes, feasibility studies and associated drawings.

  • Work with the wider planning team to make sure relevant policy and guidance is followed.

  • Attending site visits and client meetings.

  • Communicating with clients, design team and stakeholders, as appropriate.

  • Provide a positive contribution to wider elements of running the practice, including helping to prepare marketing collateral, presentation images, social media posts and website updates.

  • Ability to work at various scales from high level masterplans through to small scale interventions and contribute to the design of places from concept through to planning.

  • Strong research capability and ability to collate key information about a site/ project, including political, environmental, social, economic and spatial considerations.

  • Ability to present information in a clear format, including mapping and analysis at various scales.

  • An understanding of best practice urban design principles.

  • Passion about creating places and spaces that improve people lives and working for greater sustainability and positive environmental impact.

  • A positive and creative approach to projects.

  • Ability to work positively and collaboratively as part of a dynamic team.

  • Ability to develop positive working relationships with both colleagues and external consultants/ clients.

Essential IT/graphic skills include:-

  • Excellent visual presentation skills, experienced in advanced graphic communication techniques such as 3D modelling, hand sketching, rendering, urban design diagrams and technical drawings.

  • Experience using the Adobe Creative Suite to produce presentation images and reports, with a particular focus on Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator.

  • Experience using CAD software to a reasonable standard.

Must have completed an undergraduate degree in a related subject, such as:-

  • Architecture

  • Urban Design

  • Urban Planning

  • Town Planning

  • Built Environment

  • Urban Design

Other requirements include:-

  • Full UK driving licence plus access to a car.
