The Role

You will play a key role in improving housing conditions across the borough, focusing on private sector housing enforcement and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out property inspections under the Housing Act
  • Investigating complaints relating to housing conditions
  • Identifying hazards using the HHSRS framework
  • Taking appropriate enforcement action where required
  • Working with landlords, tenants, and external partners to drive improvements
  • Supporting wider public health and housing initiatives

What We're Looking For

  • Qualified Environmental Health Officer (or equivalent recognised qualification)
  • Experience in Private Sector Housing / Housing Enforcement
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation (Housing Act, HHSRS, etc.)
  • Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage your own caseload effectively
