An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Public Rights of Way Officer to join a local authority in Cheshire on an initial 12-month contract.
We are looking for someone with strong Definitive Map experience who can hit the ground running and provide specialist support across the Public Rights of Way function.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing Definitive Map Modification Order (DMMO) applications
- Managing Public Path Orders, diversions and extinguishments
- Maintaining and reviewing Definitive Map records
- Investigating rights of way applications and public enquiries
- Responding to complaints and access issues, including vegetation and grass cutting concerns
- Liaising with landowners, stakeholders and members of the public
- Providing advice on rights of way legislation and procedures
- Supporting wider countryside access and network management activities
- Previous Public Rights of Way / PROW experience within a local authority
- Strong knowledge of Definitive Maps and DMMOs
- Experience dealing with diversions, extinguishments and path orders
- Understanding of relevant rights of way legislation
- Ability to manage a varied caseload independently
