The Opportunity
We are currently working with a growing transport planning consultancy in Cambridge that is looking to appoint a Development Planning Transport Planner to join their team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Transport Planner with experience in development planning to work on a varied portfolio of projects across the residential, commercial, retail, education and mixed-use sectors.
You will work closely with developers, local authorities, architects and other professional consultants, providing transport planning advice throughout the development process.
The Role
As a Development Planning Transport Planner, you will be involved in a broad range of projects, from initial feasibility and transport assessments through to planning applications and delivery.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans.
- Providing transport planning and highways advice for development proposals.
- Undertaking development-related traffic generation and distribution assessments.
- Carrying out junction capacity and traffic impact assessments.
- Assisting with the preparation of technical reports and planning submissions.
- Liaising with local highway authorities, planning authorities and other stakeholders.
- Supporting clients through the planning process and responding to technical queries.
- Working alongside engineers, planners, architects and other consultants.
- Attending meetings with clients, local authorities and project teams.
- Managing your own workload and contributing to the delivery of projects to agreed deadlines.
- Supporting more junior members of the team where appropriate.
About You
We are looking for someone with a background in development planning transport consultancy, who is keen to progress their career within a supportive and commercially focused environment.
You will ideally have:
- Experience working on development planning projects within a consultancy environment.
- A good understanding of the UK planning system and the role of transport within development proposals.
- Experience producing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and/or Travel Plans.
- Knowledge of traffic generation, trip distribution and junction capacity assessment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to communicate confidently with clients and local authorities.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
- A proactive approach and the ambition to develop professionally.
- Experience with software such as Junctions, LinSig, TRICS and AutoCAD would be advantageous, although training can be provided where required.
