The Opportunity

I'm currently working with a growing and highly regarded independent planning consultancy looking to appoint a

Senior Town Planner to join its expanding team in Altrincham.

This is an exciting time to join the business, which has ambitious growth plans and is currently in the process of opening new offices in Manchester City Centre and Leeds , creating excellent long-term opportunities for career progression, project exposure and leadership.

The consultancy has built an excellent reputation for delivering commercially focused planning advice across residential, mixed-use, regeneration and strategic development projects.

You'll work alongside an experienced team of planning professionals, managing your own projects while supporting junior planners and contributing to the continued growth of the business.

With a collaborative culture and a strong pipeline of work, you'll have the opportunity to work closely with Directors, build lasting client relationships and play a key role as the company continues to expand across the North of England.

The Role

As a Senior Town Planner, you will

  • Manage a varied portfolio of planning projects from inception through to determination.
  • Prepare and submit planning applications, planning statements and supporting documentation.
  • Provide strategic planning advice to developers, landowners, investors and housebuilders.
  • Lead pre-application discussions with Local Planning Authorities and statutory consultees.
  • Undertake planning appraisals and identify development opportunities and constraints.
  • Manage planning appeals where required.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary consultant teams to deliver projects efficiently.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Mentor and support junior members of the planning team.
  • Assist Directors with business development opportunities and help shape the continued growth of the business.

About You

The successful candidate would have to be

  • MRTPI Chartered status.
  • Around 4-8 years' planning experience within a private consultancy or developer.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK planning system.
  • Experience managing planning applications independently.
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and client management skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach.
  • Full UK driving licence (preferred).

Experience across residential development, strategic land, regeneration or mixed-use projects would be advantageous.
