Our client is a dynamic and commercially focused planning consultancy delivering expert planning advice across regeneration, commercial, mixed-use and strategic development projects. They are recognised for delivering commercially driven planning strategies and successful outcomes across a broad range of developments.

Due to continued growth, our client is seeking an ambitious Town Planner / Senior Town Planner to join their expanding team in Birmingham.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of regeneration and commercial projects including town centre redevelopment, employment schemes, leisure, logistics, office and mixed-use developments. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering planning strategies, managing applications and supporting clients through the planning process from inception through to determination and appeal. The role can be appointed at either Town Planner or Senior Town Planner level depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing, submitting and managing planning applications, appeals and pre-application enquiries.
  • Advising clients on planning strategy, development opportunities and planning risks.
  • Undertaking site appraisals, feasibility studies and planning due diligence exercises.
  • Preparing planning statements, appeal statements and supporting documentation.
  • Supporting regeneration and commercial development projects across a range of sectors.
  • Liaising with local authorities, consultants, architects and key stakeholders.
  • Managing project programmes, client expectations and deadlines effectively.
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Supporting junior team members and contributing to business development initiatives (Senior level).
  • Monitoring changes in planning legislation and policy.

Candidate Requirements

Town Planner

  • RTPI accredited degree in Town Planning or related discipline.
  • Experience within consultancy or local authority planning.
  • Strong interest in regeneration and commercial development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working toward MRTPI status or recently qualified.

Senior Town Planner

  • MRTPI qualified.
  • Proven experience delivering regeneration and/or commercial planning projects.
  • Strong understanding of UK planning policy and development management.
  • Experience managing client relationships and leading projects.
  • Commercial awareness and strong project management skills.
