Are you an experienced and qualified Building Control professional ready to step into a leadership role? we are working with a Local Authority in Yorkshire who are seeking a Building Control Officer to join their team on an initial 6-month temporary assignment, playing a key role in delivering high-quality Building Control services across the district.
The Opportunity
Working closely with the Building Control Manager, you will lead on a variety of complex applications and provide technical expertise while supporting and supervising a dedicated team. This is a dynamic, hands-on role combining office-based work, site inspections, and leadership responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct site inspections and plan checking (minimum 4 days on-site per week)
- Assess a wide range of Building Control applications aligned with your accreditation
- Respond to dangerous structures and ensure public safety
- Enforce Building Regulations and the Building Act where necessary
- Supervise and support senior and junior surveyors, as well as administrative staff
- Deputise for the Building Control Manager when required
- Support the implementation of BSR operational standards
- Contribute to service improvements and procedural changes
Working Pattern
- 4 days per week conducting site inspections across the district
- Remaining time flexible depending on workload
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- Professional qualifications from a recognised chartered institute, specialising in Building Control
- Minimum Class 2F Registration
- Chartered status with CIOB, RICS, or CABE
- Strong leadership, communication, and technical expertise
