Locum Residential Conveyancer โ Wolverhampton โ Hybrid working
Location: Wolverhampton
Contract: Locum
Working pattern: Hybrid, 3 days office-based and 2 days remote
About the role
Our client is a national housebuilder looking to appoint a Residential Conveyancer on a locum basis to support its new build legal function. The role can be based at either the Wolverhampton or Bury St Edmunds office, with hybrid working built into the week.
The successful candidate will handle the legal work involved in new build plot sales, taking matters from reservation through to exchange and completion. The work is high volume and process-led, so accuracy, organisation and a steady approach to deadlines matter as much as technical knowledge.
Qualified status is not essential. The firm is looking for someone with around two years of residential conveyancing experience who can pick up files quickly and work with minimal supervision. This suits an experienced conveyancer, whether a licensed conveyancer, a legal executive or an unqualified fee earner, who wants a well-paid locum assignment in a structured environment.

- Manage a caseload of residential new build sales from instruction through to completion
- Prepare and issue contract packs and related documentation
- Deal with enquiries from buyersโ solicitors and resolve them promptly
- Liaise with sales teams, site teams and internal stakeholders to keep transactions on track
- Coordinate exchange and completion, including completion statements and funds
- Monitor key dates and progress plots towards target completion deadlines
- Keep accurate, up-to-date records on the case management system
- Work in line with compliance, regulatory and anti-money laundering requirements
Requirements
- Around 2 years of residential conveyancing experience
- Qualified status is not required
- A good working knowledge of residential conveyancing practice and procedure
- Experience of managing a busy caseload to deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to documentation
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to attend the Wolverhampton or Bury St Edmunds office 3 days per week
The offer
This is a locum position, with hybrid working of 3 days in the office and 2 days remote. You can be based at either the Wolverhampton or Bury St Edmunds office.
